Laboratory Technician - Public Health (PrEP & Infectious Disease Testing) in Chicago, IL

Overview:
Sunbelt Staffing is seeking a Laboratory Technician to support expanded services in HIV prevention and Hepatitis B screening. The Lab Tech will work across 3 operation locations, performing essential laboratory testing, processing specimens, and assisting with pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) for clients at high risk of HIV exposure.

Responsibilities:
Process laboratory tests accurately and efficiently in accordance with lab procedures.
Perform phlebotomy and venipuncture, ensuring proper labeling of specimens.
Handle blood and other biological specimens according to OSHA standards for safe packing and processing.
Enter test results into the EMR system, ensuring data accuracy.
Maintain laboratory equipment, such as centrifuges and microscopes, and manage supply inventory.
Monitor temperature and record daily log entries, taking corrective action when necessary.
Ensure the quality control of laboratory processes, documenting results as required.
Communicate with reference labs to resolve questionable test results.
Collaborate with clinic staff to ensure patient satisfaction and maintain professional working relationships.
Qualifications:
Associate's degree in Medical Technology or a related field required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Minimum of 1 year of experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
Certification in Phlebotomy and familiarity with OSHA regulations.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Proficiency in using EMR systems and other laboratory software.
